In XVII-XVIII century’s jujutsu reached its zenith. New schools were growing like mushrooms, and their number reached a record 700. Against the backdrop of his power, sophistication and effectiveness of allocated Araki-ryu, Asayama Itiden-ryu, Daito-ryu, Esin-ryu, Itin-ryu, Kiraki-ryu, Kito-ryu, Kuki Shinden-ryu, Cousiño-ryu, Muso- Ryu, Rei Shinto-ryu, Sosuysi-ryu, Sibukava-ryu, Shin-no-Shindo Ryu, Shinshin-ryu, Sibukava-ryu, Takenouchi-ryu, Tenshin Shinya-ryu, Yagyu-ryu Singhal.
In the second half of XIX – early XX centuries, during the breakdown of traditional samurai culture and the bourgeois transformation, many old school jujutsu on the brink of extinction. Some of them have changed themselves for the sake of time – both were born popular now judo and aikido. But traditions of classical jujutsu “old school” (reproach) due to the true contribution made by the few enthusiasts still not terminated.
